The sheer scale of the archive it leaves behind is dazzling.
The broaderLongformproject spanned multiple forms.
The app was discontinued in 2017, and sadly, the site stopped the curation service after 2021.
As interviewers, the three men had slightly different flavors.
I cant imagine ever having fallen in love with the biz without it.
The trio continued publishing interviews even as they kept going down their individual paths.
Linsky co-founded a podcast studio, Pineapple Street, whichwas eventually sold off to a radio company.
Ratliff is due tolaunch a new seriesearly next month.
But its hard, I suppose, to keep something going for a long time.
Plus, the world aroundLongformhas changed plenty as well.

Nothing can keep going forever, but perhaps whats left behind can be preserved.
I can only dream of it staying up forever.

Its a blissfully profane chat about commitment, vision, durability, and navigating institutions with savvy and grace.

But then I started listening to it again, religiously, as I was finishing up my book.
I thought about the questions the hosts asked and how I would hypothetically answer them.
But then something else happened.
Fox appeared on the showin 2023.
Episode 271, Kara Swisher
Longformwas where you found out whos humble and who isnt (laudatory).
But Im already a star!
And I remember being, like,wow.
Cai appeared on the showin 2023.
She reminds you that this work can be a total joy; what are we all grimacing about?

And the one, of course, where Maxwas accidentally high on edibles.
Taberski appeared on the showin 2018.
Those two always stayed with me.
Same with George Saunderss, which I think was recorded in the back of a McNally Jackson.
But the team kept it in.
(I shamelessly incorporated some of that tape inmy first talk with Saundersback in 2021.)
I remember her charm, her wit, her rapport with Max.
But relistening, the influence is clear.
