A rowdy, bawdy drinking song is always gonna win me over.
Im too big a fan ofLes MiserablesandZZ Topto feel otherwise.
My notes read, in bold caps,ITS VERYWICKER MANAND IT RULES.
Its also revealing, I think, of the bindThe Wheel of Timefinds itself in.
But more importantly, its stranded neatly between the shows two more or less incompatible strengths.
On the other hand, the shows standout episodes and sequences are invariably the ones that really stand alone.
But you dont need to be a full capsule episode or a 20-minute cold open to pop like that.
Alaynes song does that.
), and thats that.
But what it really does is, to quoteBarton Fink, burst into joyous song.

(At least, I think.)
I wouldnt hold my breath on this show.
But Alsera (Julie Van Leeuwen), the adorable little girl Rand has befriended, isnt so lucky.
And no matter how much he rages, its to no avail.

(Aes Sedai cant heal themselves directly.)
Thom Merrilins return serves much the same purpose later on.
Cue The Hills of Tanchico!
