I dont think Wendy and Eddie planned this.
Naturally, fans will argue over whether TJs narrative is credible.
I would argue, however, that the veracity of the claim is largely irrelevant.
(And yes, I know people who have lost their lives to drunk driving.)
The pieces are there, all we need is the right craftsmanship.
